journals...

I must admit, I've been pretty busy today. Here are three examples of my journals that I'll be delivering to Melissa's shop, Cottage of the Seasons. They are made using vintage stationary~ some, with a theme, and all are blank inside, with the exception of a bit of doodling and decorations by yours truly.

Revised "Blue Monday" and another finished this afternoon...

Here are a few more...

What a success, a BIG thank you to all who attended tonight's class!!!

Some "faireum" photos... we had a such a great turn-out this evening, thank you all so much for being a part of our class! Look, even Zoe decided to join us! :) She's the cutie, little white furr-ball shopdoggie keeping tabs on everyone! Each and every faireum was just as unique and fantastic as the person that created it. Not one looked like another, which really, is my ultimate goal. We want individuality, we actually do hope that no two turn out alike. That's the fun (and whole idea) of it! We had an icy white fairy theme, we had a few brightly- colored princesses, miniature real-life fairies~ Kathy! :) There were some with just tiny insects inside and we even had a "knome home" with two sweet cuddling knomes that are definately in love! :) LOTS of glitter, greenery, and love went into these jars. We hope that the fairies will be content in their new habitats and won't ever, ever try to escape! Don't take that lid off! :) Love and hugs to all who shared their evening with us! It was so nice to meet so many new friends...

Christina

Are you ready, girls???

Getting geared up for a little dose of magic, a little sprinkle of... fairy dust, that is! I'll see you downtown in just a bit! Bring your creative spirit and I'll bring my wand! *wink* Can't wait to get together with all of you~ and looking forward to meeting many new faces! :)

What have I done?

Okay, I ran across this lazy-susan type spice rack thingy at the thrift shop several months ago. It came with only two bottles and it was a dingy brown- colored spinning rack. I guess I really should have taken before and after pictures!! Why did I buy this? I picked it up strictly for the use of the jars. Originally, they were going to be "faireum" jars, but ended up being just too small for me to use in the class. Hmmmm, whatever did I do today??? Here are 3 silly photos of the semi-finished product. For the last few weeks, I've been thinking of a way to re-use this... I'm not really sure what to make of this yet... I stamped a phrase around the top of the "wheel" that says~ "Why, yes!!! i DO Collect Fairies!!! Don't YOU????" Inside of the jars - my collection of itty-bitty fairies (so far). I made one of the jars the keeper of a fairy flamingo, another has a tiny clown fairy with wings and it's sporting a crown (of course). The other~~ a fairy that's trying to escape out of it's hole in the top of the jar! (this jar was an extra one that I found to fit the rack~ minus a lid.) Eeek! I left the lid off!! How ever will I catch her again? I'm hoping to add to my collection as I find more bottles of similar sizes. Oh, and did I mention that my spice rack was a steal for $.50?? Be back soon! :)

It's almost that time! :)

Questions about the upcoming "faireum" class? It's pretty simple... Melissa and Karen's blog has all the answers! Check out the site at www.cottageoftheseasons.blogspot.com... they have such a beautiful shop, are so much fun to be around and have lots and lots of perfect decor for your home and garden. Classes are held at the same time, same place each month and there is a $20.00 fee that includes everything you'll need to create your own treasure. Bringing something (or a few different things) small and sentimental of your own to incorporate in your piece is always encouraged~ make it personal! :) We like that! No matter what we might do in class, your projects can be further embellished and personalized at home. These things take time... you know. More is more? There's no right or wrong when it comes to the artwork that you love? Do what you will, we just get you started with the basics. Have a ball!

Glitter party!

Oh, the glitter! My vintage silver glass tinsel is from my parents... a gift that really screams my name! How did they know that I would love this soooo much? hehe A mini -collage of "my favorite things" (this is our next class on the First Monday in August, by the way!) is of course, glittered! I use glitter on just about everything that I create and found objects around the house are so much more appealing to me if I add a bit of sparkle here and there! :)

Thursday, June 18, 2009

My bride and grooms, I've gotten into collecting these... and have picked them up for next to nothing. The glass jar is my idea of a photo frame. Inside of it isa picture Cory's handsome grandfather.

Next, I have the cutest little figurine! Even though this was broken in three places and missing flower petals, I couldn't resist her for five cents. She needed a good home. I embellished the broken areas with roses that I made a few years ago, added pearls, glitter, etc. and a seashell! Hopefully, you can't tell that she was an imperfect castoff! :) Good as new! (in my eyes, even better)...

More "junk" around the house!

My china cabinet... filled with treasured finds from all over, the vintage lace vest hanging on the door, $.50- I've had this for years, my milkglass bowl/cakestand was $1.50 and the beaded iris flower resting at it's base was $.10! My antique chalkboard was $1.00 then I added the word "love" hung from vintage Christmas candle holder clip-ons! I made the paper party hat in front of the chalkboard and also, the framed flowers... I found this cute little frame and just glued artifical roses inside. I couldn't resist including my waterglobe collection! I really don't think I've paid more than one dollar for any of these! I can usually pick them up for a dime a dozen! :) Shall I post some more?

...And my $.50 (for all) set of plastic retro dishes!

This one... ahhh! I found this enormous painting for $4.00 at our local thrift shop. It hangs above our fireplace and the colors are just gorgeous, what a talented soul must have created this!

Peek at my "junk"...

Okay, here we go... $.50 pastel blue birdcage (one of my favorite finds in the world- now filled with moss and birdies!), $1.00 child's pink striped lawn chair (I've tried to fit, NO way!), angel on the mantle $.50- the angel is actually paper mache! Ready for some more? :)

Searching for all that glitters!

I'm not exactly sure what creation(s) I'll post for the big "glitter party". I could just show off some random picture of myself, I guess, because my kids are always saying, "Mom, you've got glitter on your forehead." or "Mom, why is your eyebrow sparkling?" I'll admit, I get pretty messy up in my art room, but I really don't mind that kind of creative mess at all. Most of the time, I'm covered in paint, glitter and glue... there's nothing unusual about that. SO, finding just the right picture of something is going to be a challenge! A fantastic challenge that I can't wait to tackle. I've actually been doing something a bit different lately. Ok, I know this may come as a shock, because it is quite dangerous, but I've been making my own glitter. How, you may ask? With a collection of broken vintage Christmas ornaments and a hammer. That's all I'll say. Oh, and 2 words... protective eyewear. YIKES!!! Anyway, The little prince picture that I posted a few days ago actually has some of that homemade glitter below his feet! Now that you know, you can really tell by the "chunks"- can't you? Hmmm, what will I use this glitter on next? Until next time, Hugs!

News flash...

Just wanted to introduce everyone to my hubby's new venture that he's been working on developing for the past six months, he's been in the job placement business for 15 years. Cory has teamed up with a couple of professionals within his industry to establish a company hoping to help people get back to work. Finally, it's up and running- so once again, please keep them in mind if you or anybody else is looking for a career change! I've been told, that if this goes well, I can quit my real job and concentrate on my ART and blogging 100% off the time... hehehe!!! :) (and to my fellow co-workers, don't worry :)) Send anyone that you know who is currently looking for a job or just wanting to change jobs go to www.levelhire.com. Thank you!

Oh my gosh!! These wonderful ladies are creating a monster! I have stumbled across yet another event! Only my middle name... GLITTER!!! Boy, I sure have aquired quite a "to-do" list... I guess I'd better get to work! *she giggles*

Okay, I've been busy this evening.

Taking lotsa pictures, that is! So many that I'm waiting for my battery to recharge! Yes, I think I'm wearing that poor camera out now! I may be able to upload a few tonite for sharing, if it doesn't get too late on me, though I am gearing up for this junk party on the 18th. This will be my first time participating in an online event, so please bear with me and my excitement. Tomorrow I'll be ready to take even more snapshots of my favorite things- pure daylight and a fresh charge will surely inspire me! Aw-right!!!! Get ready...

Junk party... here I come!

Can't wait to show off all of my crazy, eclectic junk... well, there's really no way that I could possibly show you ALL of it, but how's about a little bit! :) I've got to start taking photos of random collections around the house... Oh boy! This should be pretty exciting!

Just a peek at one of those special requests...

Made especially for: The Duggar family!! (some of my biggest fans~and I truly thank you for that!) One of three, well, then again it could be one of four... you decide. :) I have some great pictures of your lovely family to post but I'm having trouble transferring them from my email to the blog! Eeek! Can't wait for you to see the finished projects- hopefully, you'll be pleased with the outcome. Hope to see you real soon! Hugs!

The little prince!

I've been working on some special-request projects and I just couldn't resist making this one also while I had my supplies handy. Simple and to the point, this "prince" turned out to be so handsome... He needs a good home, so he'll be going to Cottage of the Seasons next week, along with a few others.
Sooo happy to announce that I'll be having a bit more free time on my hands this summer- Hurrah!!! I'm hoping to really get in gear and participate in some local art shows or festivals. Now I just need to do some research and find out what's going on around the area. (if there even are any...) If I do find something and can actually commit to participating, I'll let you know when and where. Here's to hoping that I can locate a summer spectacular!

Oh, such cute vintage greetings!

Hey, take a looksie...here's just a peek at some of the treasures found last week at the local thrift store... $1.oo for the whole lot, which by the way, included about 50 cards along with various sheets of vintage wrapping paper! Aren't they just too much fun? The beautiful illustrations, the pastel colors, the vintage glitter, oh my! What to do with these yummy cuties... what to do! They are additions to an already large and growing collection but don't worry, I'll put them to fantastic use- I promise. :)

Happy Birthday, Brendan! xox

Our handsome son turned 20 today!!! Where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday they (both, our son and our beautiful daughter) were so very tiny and small. You know, signing a birthday card for them has to be one of the most difficult tasks for me. Really, how can a mother ever express in words how much she loves her children? That's just an impossible task for me. I'm not a very good writer, period. It's always a stuggle- trying to put my thoughts on paper, and is there really such a word to describe the deepest love for a child? If there is, I can't think of one. Anyway, we had a wonderful evening together! Shopping and dinner. It was so nice getting together and just running around, out of town for a little while. What a nice day... we hope that it was wonderful for you as well. Love you! xox

We're having a great time!

Special thanks again to Melissa and Karen at Cottage of the Seasons!!! They've given me the opportunity to show others exactly what inspires me! Yes, I've been recruited. :) Altered Art classes... now forming. "Teaching" great friends, new and old. On the first Monday of each month, we'll be learning to create something new, then we'll host a "rewind" class that allows everyone to finish up or add to the previous project- using our supplies! Our very first class was a success- experiencing the art of creative journaling and tonite, May 4th, we'll be re-vamping altoid tins. FUN! FUN! FUN! It's all about recycling and repurposing these days and what a great way to incorporate it all into artwork! The evening is spent together in a relaxed and beautiful atmosphere and we have a crazy, creative workshop. Those interested make a wonderful group and we're doing some pretty cool stuff. You really should check it out! :) I've copied some info from Melissa's blog- please check out her site and shop, what a great place to visit! See you soon!

Spring is here, OH MY!!! Happy April 1st!!!

April Fool's!!!!! I tried to pull a couple of pranks today, and failed miserably. I guess that people really can read me like a book. Mostly, my family and co-workers laughed at me... they didn't believe me when I told them that we had overslept, are expecting 14 inches of snow, and had bugs in their hair!!! Why, why, why? Was I that transparent? My boss actually told me that I could leave early for the day- BOY, was I so excited, then everyone around me laughed and said "April fool's". Ha. Ha. Well, I got the last laugh. I clocked out, was able to leave after all, and have an extra hour of playtime this afternoon. Hmmmm, better luck next year on my behalf, eh? :)
I'm browsing through a few of my photos and I really want to post some updated ones soon, I have unfortunately, again, put my blogging on the back-burner and hope to get back on track in the near future. Thanks again! See you soon... Oh, and school's been cancelled for tomorrow... APRIL FOOL'S!!!!!

Another EXTREMELY special person that I would like to thank- and I couldn't have done this without, is my mother. Putting up with me was definately a chore and I'm sure, that I made mom just as nervous about the whole thing because of my insanity! I love you so very much!!! You were such a blessing to have around... helping out EVERYWHERE, doing a fantastic job volunteering, (noone knows our home quite like you do!), and just holding me up and supporting me during all those hectic moments, I truly thank you! ALL OF MY LOVE TO YOU, NANI!!!! XOXOXOX Thank you again for all of your time and everything you've done to make last weekend a success!!!

Also, to my family!!!!!! My husband and kids... oh, my poor family! They are very happy to be able to "live" in our home again. Paper plates rule! haha! THANK YOU TO MY FAMILY!!!! You all deserve a medal!!! I LOVE YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH!!!!! XOXOXOXOX

It's good to be back, hope all's well!

YUMMY!!!!!!!!

Well, well, well.... look who's back. I've been able to finally get the camera up and working, so I've got a lotta new fun to post! I'll start with one of my favorite collections. My alphabet letters. Imagine, thoughts spelled out on everything that will make these little cuties cling! :) I'll try to post daily as I've taken some more pictures of my favorite little vignettes around the house and also a few of my pieces of art. Enjoy!

Yep, I took the pledge...

Hopefully, I can stick to this one... I would love it if everyone could go "green" and handmade. I need to get serious and do my part in conservation and recycling efforts- still need to do some research and just get the ball rolling. This weekend is the Garden and Tea show and I'm really looking forward to it. Ooops, gotta run- be back later! xo

Oh my!

It's been a while... school's almost out and we can't wait!! It's going to be in the 80's this week- yippee!!! Great fishing weather for the guys. Are you ready for the bad news? No Riverbend this year. I know, I know, I've been looking forward to this for months now and just couldn't stop talking about it, but the timing just wasn't right for me this year. I'm actually pretty bummed out about it. This won't stop me from creating, it just slows me down. I'll have plenty of time to gear up for it next year. We'll catch up later!

Sunday, April 27, 2008

Hello everyone! I haven't done any posting in a while, In fact, I haven't done much of anything productive lately. Today, though, I worked all day long on a few new "creations" for the Riverbend. Memorial day weekend is really going to sneak up on me this year! On that note, I can't believe that the kids are almost out of school- what, three weeks or so? My gosh! Time has passed me by so quickly. I need to upload some more recent pictures for all to see. Most of my photos are from last year! (I just hate to admit that!) My camera's screen went out and finding the time to play photographer eludes me. Hmmm. I've joined a fantastic group of artists on creative souls and I really want to get some pics loaded, so I need to get moving, don't I? Until next time... tata for now! xo

cutie...

My two most precious possessions!

Brendan and Bethany! I love you both so much! This pic was taken last summer in Rocky Mtn. Nat'l park. What a setting! You guys are awesome! xoxoxoxox

icandy...

After the Riverbend... get ready, it'll be right around the corner!

Again, Mom & I... whaddaya think? We are pretty silly together and have so much fun!

Oh, wow. Mom & I being way too silly.

Beth took this picture of the two "simps". Bunny ears on Easter!! :) Love you, Mom!

Only 2 days 'til the big 38!!

I'm having a good week. Almost Friday, and really looking forward to it. No special reason- it's only MY BIRTHDAY. I'm one of those cheeseballs that really gets excited each and every year. Hey, my philosophy is: I'm blessed to be able to celebrate another year! I'm still young enough that I don't mind telling my age, but old enough to realize how fast time really does fly by! Oh, but don't worry-I'll let you know how I'm feeling after the big day. (We'll see if I still feel "young" enough.) Changing the subject... we just returned home after being walked by the dogs-ha! and I'm truly exhausted- so are they. It's always a workout. Our 2 german shepards like to pull and run around alot... you know how that goes. They're strictly indoor dogs and they only go outside to take care of business. So, in turn, when on a leash they like to drag me and wrap around every single pole, tree and hydrant while I'm busy trying to distract them from all of the squirrels and strays. Fun, fun, fun! We all got some overdue exercise. It was time to head back home, though. Not only were we all dog tired- (no pun intended, we walked about a mile) but I ran out of Wal-mart bags. Catch my drift? I'll write again soon. Time for some R&R. Bye! :)

Oh, so true!

FINALLY, HAPPY SPRING!!!!!!!

Yes, the first day of Spring has arrived... and not a moment too soon! Today I actually went to the first yard sale of the season (at least for me) and WOW- it was a good one! Lots and lots of treasures and at such a great price! It seemed as though the entire town was there... tons of traffic! I completely stumbled across this one. :) It was such a beautiful day today and it's so nice to be outdoors again! TaTa for now.

Friday, March 14, 2008

What a nice weekend!

Hello and welcome to the weekend! We are so excited... our daughter, Bethany is playing the character Nyra in a local production of the "Jungle Book". Opening night was a blast and she didn't miss a beat! Today is her second performance - ready, set, GO! What a great time it is! Papa also returns home this weekend... we can't wait to see him and give him big hugs! Don't forget to wear green tomorrow! You wouldn't want to get pinched, now would you? Fresh cinnamon buns are calling, chef Bethany really hooked us up this afternoon!

Monday, March 3, 2008

Take a peek!

Okay, you have to look really, really closely at this photo to see this backyard baby! (To the left of the brush pile, directly below the telephone pole.) Last Spring, just before we made the move to our new home, a tiny bunny would come out of the brush and have the time of his life racing and jumping around like lightning- and being very silly! It truly was one of the most adorable sights! We would all check up on "the baby" early in the mornings and later on, after dinner in the evenings. Inevitably, it would always come out and entertain us. Almost as though it knew that we were watching and waiting just to see if it was still safe from harm... and all the while, putting on quite a show. That bunny was so very sweet to see!
I'm still anxiously awaiting Springtime. Can you tell? :)

Here, birdie, birdie!

So pretty!

Good morning!

Another gorgeous day! I really have to take some new pictures and hopefully, with Spring right around the corner, my daughter will be bringing home fistfuls of flowers! I think that Spring fever is in full swing now... and I'm definitely feeling it! (Even though it's going to get cold again this week, they say... blah!) I can't wait to spend our days outside playing.

What a beautiful day it is... and what a mood I'm in. I want to make something...I really should scratch the creative itch, but I have so much on my mind and I need to get things done around the house first! I need to keep myself busy for a while. I had my first baby bird leave the nest this week. My son decided that it was time to get a place of his own... he'll be 19, so I guess it was an overdue decision. I miss him so much already. My daughter is 13 and growing up just as fast. Time for teenager-round two! :) I know she'll keep me plenty busy! :) It seems like only yesterday... Time really does go by so quickly. I need to focus on that great feeling of accomplishment and everything will be fine. Ta Ta for now!
